K-12 Programs
The College of Engineering has several pre-college programs for students who are enrolled in mid-school or high school as well as those students already attending NMSU. Our students, as well as the faculty and staff, are involved to introduce Engineering to prospective students or challenge our students to excel in Engineering.
- PREP - Prefreshman Engineering Program
The Las Cruces Prefreshman Engineering Program (PREP) is held on the NMSU campus and is designed to academically prepare middle and high school students for careers in mathematics, science and engineering. Participants in sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade can apply. Students must be able to complete all three years of PREP prior to graduation from high school. For more information - BEST - Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology Robotics Competition
This competition exposes middle and high school students to the concepts of engineering and technology through a robotics design challenge. - NMAMP - New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation
The New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation is designed to increase the enrollment and graduation rate of underrepresented ethnic minorities in Science, Mathematics, Engineering and Technology (SMET). - RASEM 2 - Regional Alliance for Science, Engineering, and Mathematics - Squared
RASEM 2 is providing the means, support and encouragement for students with disabilities to overcome the educational barriers they face in considering science, engineering, math and technology careers. - SEMAA - Southern New Mexico Science, Engineering, Mathematics and Aerospace Academy
Our goal is to inspire underrepresented students K-12 into the fields of mathematics, science, and engineering through the study of Aerospace and Aviation. We offer three 8-week after school programs for Las Cruces Public Schools, Gadsden Independent School District, and Hatch Public Schools throughout the Academic year, plus four 1-week sessions during the summer. Our hands-on NASA curriculum is educational, relevent, and fun! - M-TEC - Manufacturing Technology and Engineering Center
M-TEC combines NMSU and New Mexican industries together in a synergistic relationship that helps train faculty and students. - NMSGC - New Mexico Space Grant Consortium
The NMSGC is a member of the NASA Space Grant College and Fellowship Program . The mission of NMSGC is to encourage every citizen of New Mexico to participate in the economic, education, and scientific benefits of space; to encourage and recruit citizens of New Mexico into aerospace-related math, science, engineering, and technology careers; and to establish commonalities among the programs of consortium partners. - Southwestern New Mexico Science and Engineering Fair
