Educational Initiatives
In addition to its academic programs, the NMSU College of Engineering supports a variety of special science and engineering education programs from the pre-college to the post-graduate levels. Serving as the cornerstone for these activities are partnerships with other organizations in the public and private sectors.
Many of these special educational initiatives focus on minority populations which historically have been under represented in science-based professions. The NMSU College of Engineering strongly believes that New Mexico's large pools of minority talent will provide major contributions towards meeting the nation's needs for science-based professionals. To help achieve this goal, the College is committed to providing quality programs to increase the participation of under represented minorities in engineering and science
National Recognition
NMSU continues to emerge as a major research institution. In FY 1999-2000, the College of Engineering's research contracts totaled more than $15 million for academic departments alone. The University as a whole has earned the distinction of being designated:
The Telemetering Center of Excellence in the United States by the International Foundation for Telemetering.
